How to use Scan to PDF

Scan to PDF turns photos of paper into a tidy PDF. On a phone or tablet it opens the camera directly.

  1. Take or choose photos of each page (up to 3 per task on the Free plan).
  2. Put them in order and set page size, orientation and margins.
  3. Create the PDF and download it.

Good to know

  • Shoot in even light, flat, and square-on: it makes the difference between good and poor recognition later.
  • Run OCR on the result to make the text searchable and selectable.
  • Choose "fit to image" if you want the page to match the photo rather than A4 or Letter.

Questions about Scan to PDF

Is Scan to PDF free?
Yes. It is free with no account needed: files up to 25 MB, 3 files per task, 40 tasks a day. Premium raises that to files up to 200 MB, 25 files per task, 1,000 tasks a day.
Which files can I use?
Images (.jpg, .jpeg, .png, .webp, .gif, .bmp, .tif, .tiff). You can add several at once.
What happens to my files?
They are uploaded over an encrypted connection, processed on Papermint's own servers and deleted automatically: after 2 hours if you are not signed in, or 24 hours if you are. "Delete now" on the result removes them straight away. Your documents are not read, shared or sent to other services.
Do I need to install anything?
No. Scan to PDF runs in your browser on phones, tablets and computers, so there is nothing to download.
Do I need an account?
No. A free account keeps your results for 24 hours instead of 2 hours, so you can download them again from any device.
