How to use Header and footer
Header and footer puts text in the margins of every page: a title along the top, a date and page number along the bottom, a reference in the corner. Six slots, and tokens that fill themselves in page by page.
- Upload the PDF and pick a preset, or type straight into the six boxes.
- Add tokens where a value should change per page: {page}, {pages}, {title}, {filename} and {date}.
- Check the live preview of page 1, then apply and download.
Good to know
- Tick "leave the first page bare" when the document opens on a title page — running heads normally start on page two.
- "Start numbering at" lets a chapter that begins on page 12 of a bound report say so.
- The thin rule is what separates a typeset-looking document from a stamped one; turn it off for informal documents.
- Only Latin characters can be drawn with the built-in fonts. For Greek, Cyrillic or CJK text, use Edit PDF, which embeds its own font.
